Davitt Photo Centre opened it doors in April 2003. Providing a professional developing and printing service for professional photographers, keen amateur and the general public. Since opening it’s doors Davitt Photo Centre has become one of the West’s leading Professional Photographic Labs.

As the business changed Davitt Photo Centre has adapted to the changes in the digital world. Initially being able to print from negative (135mm and 120mm) was all that was required. Now state-of-the-art digital printing machines are required by the clientele at Davitt Photo Centre. Printing from 4” x 6” silver halide prints all the way up to A0 photographic prints, posters and canvas prints. Scanning of negatives and slides to cd or print has also become very popular.

Davitt Photo Centre is run by husband and wife team Martin and Debbie, who have a combined experience of 40 years in the photographic business. Martin has been working in the photo industry since September 1986 when he started in a Dublin lab. He moved to Galway in 1994 after continued pressure from the management to take over the running of their Galway branch. Debbie joined Martin there and both have always taken great pride in the quality of service which they provide.

Martin and Debbie have always known there was a need for a Framing Studio in the Salthill/Knocknacarra area of Galway, and as soon as the opportunity arose to move to a larger premises their first thoughts were to incorporate a Framing Studio into the new premises, with Martin having worked in the framing factory in the Dublin Lab this was a natural and easy progression for their business.

This is proving to be the correct move as they are already busy with framing orders. They have an extensive range of mouldings in stock and will be expanding and amending this range with their customers in mind.
